Where do prostitutes come from?

It's not like many little girls think hmmmm... doctor? no. lawyer? no. prostitute? sure that's the job for me. Well I recently met an all American prostitute driven there by a need to be with her children and not to have to conform to the average society to make ends meet.

This is a single woman, age 40ish, who is trying to be home when she has access to her children, which she sees 1 week at a time. For one week she has her kids and then they go back to dad for one week. Ok, she did have a regular job but had a bad injury and lost her regular job. With the job market the way it is and the fact that any job she takes now the money will be eaten up by daycare, she chose to operate under the generasity of older men.

She tends to date elderly men, about 20 yrs her senior or more. She takes gifts for dates, she cooks them meals, cleans their homes, and services these gentleman. Now no one talks about this being "work" or "prostitution". No one discusses fees or anything of the like. They come over or she goes to their homes, makes them feel better, and sometimes (not always) they gift her a sum of money. One gentleman, she tells me, is good for between $200 - $500 per visit. However now that she is getting older these visits are slowing down.

She attempted to attend school, to better herself, and that is when she was injured. A small thing, like an extra bill or unexpected expense, can send this person into a spiral of despair. I watched today as she blew her last $20 on a new pair of high heels to make her feel better about herself because she can't pay her rent.

Most of her funds come from Child Support and Spousal Support from her failed marriage. She has a small number of bills; rent, electric, and cell phone yet she can not seem to manage these funds to pay those few bills first.

I follow this case with interest today Madamn X mentioned turning to stripping to make ends meet. I wait to see what, if anything, developes out of this.
